On a 2-day visit to India, Sundar Pichai proposed that India will have more Android users than the America by 2016. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, says, “India is one of the largest growth markets & Mobile internet can be a game changer in near future.” He stressed on the significance of internet connectivity & brought the idea to make sure that each and everyone gets the access of internet. He told that there are many products on which the team is working which will ensure that a platform will be made for the suburbans. Sundar Pichai’s visit to India definitely motivated entrepreneurs to be like him in near future.
This is Pichai’s first visit to India after he was appointed as CEO of Google in August. Pichai said that Google’s rural internet programme will move from pilot to full scale programme in 3 Lakh villages in India. The organization will help women from 3 lakh villages across India to get online in forthcoming 3 years.
He also stressed on making women a part of Google’s efforts to get them access nationally. Sundar also confirmed that the firm would build new campus and ramp up engineering presence in Hyderabad to make products for India. As of 2014, Sundar Pichai was given a $50 million annual salary package by Google. This happened mainly because Google didn’t want to lose Sundar Pichai to Microsoft or Twitter. He is one of the near and dear ones to Larry Page. Sundar Pichai’s visit to India certainly boosted the emerging entrepreneurs to reach at a position where Pichai is now.
Sundar earned his BE degree from IIT Kharagpur in Metallurgical Engineering. Pichai also holds an M.S. from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has almost 15 years of experience developing enterprise products and high-tech consumer. He joined Google just before its 2004 initial public offering and several colleagues who worked with him in the years following said he never seemed anointed for the top job.
