India vs. South Africa: First Test Day 1
The most awaited Test series for the Cricket fans started today when India winning the toss decided to bat on a really slow track against the very pace of Steyn, Philander. It was a sudden shock for Indian fans who saw quick 3 wickets fall of skipper Virat, opener Dhawan and Gujarat Proud- Pujara.
The 1st test is venued at Mohali and the wicket seemed dry and rough of which Philander and Harmer took the benefit of. Though Steyn couldn’t do the damage to Indians, it was a part time bowler Dean Elgar who ruined Indian first innings. Virat Kohli’s flop show on his Birthday!
Just like the ODI series, Dhawan couldn’t show his performance and it is the same ground where he scored fantastic 187 against Australia in 2013. He is not in his best form, also the birthday boy and skipper falls for 1 run against Rabada to a cheeky delivery. Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin made 42 runs contribution for 8th wicket because of which India managed to cross 200.
Pace spearhead Steyn and Philander started off with a bang to Dhawan but Murali Vijay and Pujara managed to survive the attack. Then it was time for some part-time spin to get a miracle wicket. It does happens quite often when skipper appoints a part time bowler the responsibility to pick a wicket, he would ruin the opponent spontaneously.
Rabada was playing his first Test Match and look who he made his prey? Virat Kohli. Elgar took a stunning catch at cover and Rabad seemed overjoyed saddened Kohli on his birthday.
