Every year the U.S. Government registers nearly thousands of deaths due to cancer. And in this year itself there are over 1.6 million people who have already been diagnosed with cancer. There are few researches going on how to kill cancer, and one of them is “marijuana”. Yes, you heard it right! Marijuana kills cancer cells. It is not considered as the only cause but can lead to cure at least.
Marijuana aka Cannabis has been used over past few years to bring well being to people suffering from cancer. It influences on the nervous system and cures chronic pain, improves sleep, increases appetite, etc. But lately cannabis has also shown tendencies of killing cancerous cells.
Cannabis has 21 chemical composnets called cannabinodis. They activate some receptors which directly affects the nervous system and the immune system.
There were various tests run on groups of mice and they were given various doses of THC by tube feeding. Tests were also done of a variety of cancerous cells.
During the tests carried out by National Cancer Institute, they discovered that cannabinoids reduce growth of cancer cells and block the blood vessels to grow tumors. They protect the normal cells by killing the cancer cells. Some also showed anti-tumor effects.
Whereas no major clinical trials on humans are carried out yet, so it can not be stated with assurance that it can treat cancer for real. It has components which can minimize the symptoms of cancer and side effects of therapies. Which leads researchers to actively experiment on this particular topic. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is yet to acknowledge Cannabis or cannabinoids for use as a cancer treatment.
